Kapil Dev on Jasprit Bumrah: Former captain Kapil Dev, who won India’s first ICC World Cup in 1983, often remains in discussions regarding his statements. Former veterans are known for raising serious questions on the players. Now he has raised questions on Indian team’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He asked questioningly what happened to Bumrah.
In an interview given to ‘The Week’, Kapil Dale raised serious questions on star fast bowler Bumrah. Kapil Dev believes that if Bumrah does not recover till the 2023 World Cup, then it will be a waste of time on him. The veteran said, “What happened to Bumrah? He started working with so much confidence, but if he wasn’t there… we would have wasted time on him.”
The former Indian captain further talked about wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. He said, “Rishabh Pant… Such a great cricketer. If he was there, our Test would have been better.
The former Indian veteran talked about the injury of the players and the IPL. He said, “God is kind, it is not that I have never been hurt. But today, they are playing 10 months in a year. Give her the benefit of the doubt, but everyone has to take care of themselves. IPL is great thing but IPL can spoil you too. Because, with minor injuries you will play IPL, but with minor injuries you will not play for India. You’ll take a break. I’m very open about it.”
Kapil Dev didn’t even leave the board regarding the poor workload management of the Indian players. He said, “If you have a minor injury, you will play the IPL, if there is an important game. At this stage, the cricket board has to understand how much cricket they should play. This is the main thing. If today, you have the resources, the money, but you do not have the calendar for three or five years. There is something wrong with the cricket board.”
